Façade Masquerade

Welcome to the masquerade!
Wear your Mask every where you go
Life's a masquerade after all
Your façade is your mask, wear it with pride
Dignity, piety, lack of impropriety
Cleverly concealing the monster inside
Liars may wear the masks of teachers. Truth bound and enlightened
Paedophiles may wear the masks of priests. Pious and self righteous
Thieves may wear the mask of entrepreneurs. Honesty and intelligence to boot
Murders may wear the masks of gentlemen. Plain, pure, law abiding folk
Isn't it marvellous, the variety, the gaiety of the masks of façade?
Come one, come all don't be shy. Paint your façade bright on your mask
After all you'll be wearing it till you die.
For the truth is everyone pretends to be a pillar of society, a brick in the wall of the community
And the truth is everyone, him and her and you and even me
Are not one person but two you see,
The one that you meet with, talk with, spy upon the street a genteel mask of properness and dignity, and the one that lurks underneath in a place so damask and dark that only they can see. It's mask less face of hate and deceit.
It's all ersatz my dear
Ersatz is everyone me and you
Beware the cracking of façade's mask it may expose things meant to remain in the dark.
Self hatred, self harming, loathing, lying, debauchery, depravity
All to be exposed to the cold light of day
Life would be hard without the mask of the façade.
They have places for these broken façade masks did you know? Prisons, asylums, psychiatrist's offices, pill bottles. Locking you away to keep the masquerade pulsing, to keep the masquerade afloat
But have no fear this masquerade is never ending
For the facade masquerade will simply turn away, let those of the cracked masks die away drowning in there screams falling prey to unhearing ears, so the smokescreen would remain. Keeping them all safe within the Façade masquerade
this is about life and society
